Our RYA Day Skipper Theory Course will help you get the best from your modern electronic devices and will teach pilotage, navigation, and seamanship up to the standard required to skipper a vessel in day light hours only.

The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course has both northern and southern hemisphere versions of the training materials. So, no matter where you are in the world, our course can be tailored to you enabling you to put into practice everything you have been taught.

The RYA Day Skipper Course is delivered over 40 hours with two exam papers. It can be covered as a series of short sessions as evening classes over 14 weeks, as an intensive week-long course, or split over three weekends.

16 years old.
No prior qualifications are required. The qualification attained will be the RYA Day Skipper Theory Certificate.
There is no experience necessary prior to joining this course.

If you would like to try a more basic course in navigation we run the 2 day Essential navigation training either on line or in a classroom.

Seatrek General Course Information

Courses taken on the water are carried out on board our 6.5 meter RIB and our 45′ Nelson. The RIB is suitable for all levels of students and has a 130hp Honda. Our Nelson has two twin Sabre’s

Shorebased courses are held either in our classroom or in hotel facilities depending on the numbers attending the course.

Times 09.00 – 17.00 hrs with  a break for lunch and morning &  afternoon refreshments.

Waterproof clothing is available should students not have their own. Life jackets are supplied on all courses, however, if students wish to bring their own then they are more than welcome.  They will be checked by your instructor prior to going out.

There are shower and toilet facilities on site with disabled access as well. It is recommended you bring with you a warm set of dry clothes to change into, in case of inclement weather. Sun cream hat and gloves are also a must, windburn and sunburn can be sore if preventive measures are not taken.
