Our RYA Day Skipper Practical course is for anyone who has limited or no cruising experience. This course will give you all the knowledge you need to safely handle a motor boat on the water. The RYA Day Skipper practical course introduces you to navigation, boat handling, anchoring, securing to a buoy and many other topics. The RYA Day Skipper Practical course is run over a four day period for up to 5 students. This course is run as a block week or over two weekends.

We have one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland for you to train in. The Clyde is well known for its commercial shipping environment and is the gateway to the west coast. Its tidal waters will give you an excellent grounding in your learning experience.

The holder of the RYA Day Skipper practical certificate can apply for the ICC (International Certificate of Competence)

Seatrek General Course Information

Courses taken on the water are carried out on board our 6.5 meter RIB and our 45′ Nelson. The RIB is suitable for all levels of students and has a 130hp Honda. Our Nelson has two twin Sabre’s

Shorebased courses are held either in our classroom or in hotel facilities depending on the numbers attending the course.

Times 09.00 – 17.00 hrs with  a break for lunch and morning &  afternoon refreshments.

Waterproof clothing is available should students not have their own. Life jackets are supplied on all courses, however, if students wish to bring their own then they are more than welcome.  They will be checked by your instructor prior to going out.

There are shower and toilet facilities on site with disabled access as well. It is recommended you bring with you a warm set of dry clothes to change into, in case of inclement weather. Sun cream hat and gloves are also a must, windburn and sunburn can be sore if preventive measures are not taken.
